Emergency Supervised Access

Emergency supervised access is professionally supervised contact arranged at short notice when a child and family require safe, structured contact without unnecessary delay.
Supervised Access Ireland provides emergency supervised access nationwide, including situations arising from Family Court proceedings, legal arrangements and child welfare circumstances.
At SAI, the child is not simply present during access — the child is central to the process. Particular attention is given to the voice of the child, including what the child says, how they communicate, their behaviour, presentation, comfort, interaction, engagement and responses before, during and after contact, always having regard to their age and circumstances.
Our professionals are trained to recognise that children may communicate in many different ways. A child’s voice may be expressed through words, behaviour, play, emotion, hesitation, withdrawal, enthusiasm or changes in presentation. These observations are approached carefully, neutrally and without placing pressure on the child.
Child safeguarding remains fundamental throughout every emergency supervised access visit. SAI brings specialist experience in supervised access, safeguarding practice and recognising and documenting the voice of the child within a professional, child-centred framework.
Where availability permits, a suitable professional can be assigned promptly so that contact can take place within a safe, neutral and carefully managed environment.
